TruckBuild NZ has been part of the engineering industry for more than 25 years, working across general, structural, and heavy transport engineering. In 2021, we expanded into a brand new workshop dedicated specifically to heavy transport fabrication, truck bodies, and specialist builds.
Our team brings practical, hands on knowledge from years of working on everything from commercial transport fleets to one off specialty vehicles. We understand how these trucks need to perform — and we build them to last.
Our Team
TruckBuild NZ is made up of a close knit crew of experienced engineers and fabricators who know heavy transport inside and out.
Founded in late 2022 by Pete Todd and Grant Stuart, the business was built on solid workmanship, practical thinking, and doing right by the customer. Between us, we’ve got decades of hands on experience in truck builds, crane installations, fabrication, and heavy- uty repairs, the kind of work that has to stand up to real NZ conditions.
We’re a team that works closely together on every job. Ideas get shared, problems get talked through, and nothing leaves the workshop unless we’re happy with it. That approach lets us build trucks that are fit for purpose, reliable, and built to last.

Palfinger NZ
Our Build Partner has been in the general engineering business in the Nelson region for the last 30 years. Approx four years ago, they sold their business to a local engineering company, and this created the opportunity to chase an idea they had been working on for some time.
With the support of some of old customers who they had built or repaired trucks for over the years, Truck Build NZ was born in 2022. They aim to provide a service for new and existing customers for repairs and new builds as required.
Their passionate team of engineers can cater to virtually anything required. New build crane trucks are a specialty, they have designed and built many crane trucks ranging from UTEs with small deck-mounted cranes, specialist line trucks for power companies right up to the big rear-mounted cranes with fly jibs.
